Monsoon will move in a good direction

With the falling water levels in dams and reservoirs, the sharp rise in temperatures, and the approaching sowing season for Kharif crops, the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon is being eagerly awaited across India.
The forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regarding the monsoon's arrival and progress is expected to bring much-needed relief to the agricultural sector.
According to the IMD, the Southwest Monsoon may reach Kerala anytime during the week starting from 22 May. It is notable that the department had earlier predicted the monsoon's arrival around 27 May,
allowing a variation of four days. This suggests that the monsoon could reach the Indian mainland between 23 May and 1 June, with 1 June typically considered the onset date.
The monsoon generally becomes active in Sri Lanka before reaching India, although no official announcement has been made yet about its onset there.
It is believed that the ongoing pre-monsoon rains in India may gradually transition into the main monsoon phase, potentially increasing its strength, momentum, and impact.
The IMD has indicated that normal rainfall or light showers are likely in Kerala, Mahe, coastal Karnataka, and Lakshadweep over the next seven days. This will provide some relief to spice and plantation crop regions.
These showers are considered part of the typical monsoon build-up pattern along the west coast and will lay the groundwork for the official arrival of the monsoon.
Heavy rainfall is expected at several locations in coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Rayalaseema in the coming days.
The main monsoon rains are anticipated to commence even as the pre-monsoon showers continue across the southern peninsular region of India.
