News Capsule: Australia completes a record grain export year
★ In the 2024/25 marketing year, Australia exported 39.62 million tons of wheat, barley, sorghum, and canola — up from 35.87 million tons the previous year, making it the third-largest grain export year on record.
★ China was the largest buyer with 9.42 million tons of grain, although this was lower than last year. Wheat exports declined, while barley and sorghum exports increased.
★ Wheat exports reached 23.48 million tons, with Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand as the top buyers. Barley exports totaled 8.13 million tons, with China accounting for 73% of the volume. Canola exports stood at 5.4 million tons, mainly shipped to the European Union.
★ Sorghum exports reached 2.5 million tons, with about 94% of the total going to China.
