News Capsule: Sugar Market Stable, Demand Weak; Uptrend Expected Ahead
★ Sugar ex-mill prices in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra remained stable, as market demand continues to stay weak. Buying at current price levels is limited, and the resale market has seen a decline of about ₹10–₹15 per 100 kg.
★ Demand from hotels and restaurants has been प्रभावित due to the ongoing gas-related issues, putting pressure on the market. However, with rising temperatures in April, demand from ice cream and cold drink industries is expected to increase, which may support prices.
★ In Maharashtra, prices also remained steady, though traders believe the market may see a mild rise in the coming days before stabilizing again.
Price range:
★ Western/Central Uttar Pradesh: ₹3,915 – ₹4,035 per 100 kg
★ Mumbai: ₹3,970 – ₹4,053 per 100 kg
★ Kolhapur: ₹3,760 – ₹3,820 per 100 kg
★ At present, the market remains stable due to weak demand, but with seasonal summer demand picking up, a mild upward trend in prices is expected soon.
