Only 14,500 tonnes of gram exported from Australia in July

Brisbane. Data from the government body - Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) shows that the export of gram from Australia in July fell to 14,500 tonnes, which was 63 percent less than the shipment of 38,816 tonnes in June.
The exportable stock of gram in Australia is continuously decreasing rapidly. It is believed that the pace of export will be able to increase only after the harvesting of the new crop begins in October.
In July, 9288 tonnes of gram was exported from Australia to India, 1582 tonnes to Bangladesh and 905 tonnes to Nepal.
According to the available data, during the quarter of May-July 2024, some 56,085 tonnes of gram was imported from there in India, which included 21641 tonnes in May, 25156 tonnes in June and 7288 tonnes in July.
In May, the Government of India made the import of Desi Chana duty free and after that it was imported heavily from Australia.
Due to increasing imports by India, a total of 97,164 tonnes of chana was exported from Australia in May-July 2024, which included shipment of 11 thousand tonnes to Bangladesh, 56 thousand tonnes to India, 8 thousand tonnes to Nepal,
10 thousand tonnes to the United Arab Emirates and 6 thousand tonnes to Pakistan. The remaining chana was exported to many other countries including Canada and England.
