New Delhi. Although the central agency- Food Corporation of India (FCI) has a very large stock of rice and due to its easy supply and availability in the domestic sector also, an environment of stability in prices is being seen, but without being affected by this reality,

Indian farmers are making tremendous efforts to increase the area of paddy because they have no concern for the sale of their produce. The central government purchases a huge amount of paddy from farmers every year at the minimum support price and will do so this time too.

This year, there has been very good rain of southwest monsoon in the major producing states and it is still happening, which includes Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana, Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand etc.

As a result, the paddy production area at the all-India level jumped by 45.70 lakh hectares from 273.70 lakh hectares last year to 319.40 lakh hectares till August 4 this time.

This year the normal average area of paddy has been estimated at 403.10 lakh hectares. During the month of August, paddy is planted on a large scale in the eastern and southern states of the country.

In some places, this process continues till September. In view of this, it seems that the area of paddy can reach a new record level in the current Kharif season like last year. This is also expected to increase the production of rice.

The Central Government has increased the minimum support price of paddy by Rs 69 per quintal for the 2025-26 season as compared to the 2024-25 season.

With this, the support price of general category paddy has increased from Rs 2300 per quintal to Rs 2369 per quintal and the minimum support price of 'A' grade paddy has increased from Rs 2320 per quintal to Rs 2389 per quintal. This support price is very attractive for the farmers. Paddy planting will continue in future also.
