Rain Brings Relief and Disruption in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: Sudden changes in weather brought rain, storms, and even hail to several districts of Uttar Pradesh starting April 11, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature and providing relief from the heat.

In Lucknow, temperatures on April 12 ranged between 22.2°C and 34.8°C, while Prayagraj also recorded good rainfall.

The Meteorological Department had forecast rain and thunderstorms for April 13–14, which materialized across eastern and western districts, keeping the sky overcast and causing disruption in Rabi crop harvesting in some areas. The weather remained unstable till April 13 in Lucknow and surrounding districts.

The Met Department has predicted continued rain, strong winds, and thunder till April 14 in districts including Gorakhpur, Mau, Deoria, Ballia, Kushinagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, and Balrampur.

A gradual temperature rise is expected after April 14, which may help resume harvesting activities, even in rain-affected fields, as water is likely to dry quickly with warmer conditions.

Harvesting of wheat, mustard, gram, barley, lentils, and peas is already underway in many areas and is expected to gain momentum from April 15.
