Season 2024-25: 77 Sugar Mills in India Have Stopped Cane Crushing Operations
★ According to a report issued by the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories Limited (NFCSF) on February 15, the following states have completed their cane crushing operations:

★ As of February 15, 2025, a total of 454 sugar mills are still crushing cane. So far, 21.75 million tons of sugarcane have been processed, producing 19.765 million tons of sugar.
★ In the same period last year, 505 mills had processed 22.77 million tons of sugarcane, producing 22.475 million tons of sugar.
★ The sugar recovery rate this season has been lower. As of February 15, 2025, the average sugar recovery rate (excluding ethanol production diversion) was 9.09%, while it was 9.87% in the previous season.
State-wise Sugar Production Status:
Maharashtra:
★ 170 mills processed 74.022 million tons of sugarcane, producing 6.810 million tons of sugar.
Uttar Pradesh:
★ 121 mills started crushing, with 119 still operating, processing 68.011 million tons of sugarcane and producing 6.325 million tons of sugar.
Karnataka:
★ Out of 79 mills, 45 are still operating, processing 43.765 million tons of sugarcane and producing 3.720 million tons of sugar.
★ According to NFCSF, the total estimated sugar production for the 2024-25 season is 27 million tons, compared to 31.9 million tons in the previous season.
