New Delhi. Due to slow arrival of new goods at production centers and low local and export demand, the prices of small cardamom have remained sluggish for some time. During the last one week, a decline of 40/50 rupees has been recorded in the prices. Looking at the current situation, there is no possibility of a boom in the market right now. Because in the coming days, the arrival of new goods will start increasing.

Production estimate

Recently, there is good rain in Kerala but till now there is no news of any damage to the crop, but due to lack of rain in the month of March-April, small cardamom plants had dried up. Due to which there were estimates of 20/25 percent damage to the crop. Currently, the weather is still favorable for the crop, if the rain continues for the next one week, then there is a possibility of damage to small cardamom. It is noteworthy that during the last year 2023, the production of green cardamom in the country was 28/30 thousand tonnes, which is likely to decrease to 20/22 thousand tonnes this year. It is noteworthy that small cardamom is produced in Kerala, Tamil Nadu. Kerala contributes 70/75 percent of the total production. Apart from India, small cardamom is also produced in Guatemala. The arrival of new small cardamom in Guatemala starts in the month of December.

Price

Sources say that due to lack of rain, the first peaking of small cardamom has been affected while other peakings are likely to be good. Small cardamom crop is to come in 5/6 peaking. After the second peaking starts in the coming days, the current prices may fall further. There is no possibility of a rise in the near future provided the weather remains favorable for the crop in the coming days.
