The favorable harvest window may be somewhat shorter in the eastern United States. The remnants of Hurricane Isaias are expected to bring more than an inch of rain to parts of Indiana (IN) and Ohio (OH) over the next few days. Most of the rest of the country is expected to remain dry until next Wednesday or Thursday. Parts of Iowa (IA), Missouri (MO), Minnesota (MN), Wisconsin (WI), and the Dakotas could receive 1 to 2 inches of rain.
According to USDA’s weekly export sales report, soybean sales for the week ending October 1 totaled just 549,377 metric tons. This was the lowest weekly sales figure of the current shortened marketing year and was 40.25% below the same week last year. China was the largest buyer, purchasing 382,900 metric tons. Mexico purchased 139,800 metric tons, while Tunisia bought 60,000 metric tons.
Soybean meal sales totaled 1.047 million metric tons, including 861,901 metric tons carried over from the 2025/26 marketing year. Soybean oil sales totaled 9,289 metric tons, while 8,105 metric tons were carried over from the 2025/26 marketing year.
According to Bloomberg’s survey, the upcoming Crop Production report is expected to show the average US soybean yield increasing by 0.1 bushels per acre to 52.9 bushels per acre. Production is projected to rise by just 3 million bushels to 4.538 billion bushels. The survey also estimates that US soybean ending stocks will decline by 2 million bushels to 308 million bushels, mainly due to an expected reduction in the 2025/26 marketing year carryout.
