USDA reported a private export sale of 100,000 MT of soybean meal to Italy this morning.
According to CFTC data released Friday, speculators reduced 23,777 contracts from their net long position in soybean futures and options as of April 7, bringing the net long down to 189,630 contracts. Meanwhile, managed money in soybean oil extended their record net long by 14,873 contracts to 150,682 contracts.
Thursday’s Export Sales report showed soybean export commitments at 37.905 MMT, which is 18% lower than the same period last year. This is now 90% of USDA’s revised estimate and behind the normal average pace of 95%.
Soybean shipments stand at 30.52 MMT, which is 73% of the USDA forecast and lagging the average shipping pace of 84%.
