Sugar Export Figures and Expected Monthly Quota
★ The government had permitted the export of 10 lakh tonnes of sugar in January 2025.
★ So far in the 2024-25 season, around 8 lakh tonnes are expected to be exported.
★ No additional export quota will be issued for the remaining stock after September 30, before the start of the new season.
★ In August 2023 and 2024, the monthly sugar sale quota was 27.5 lakh tonnes and 22 lakh tonnes respectively. Due to lower production this year, the quota is likely to remain around 22 lakh tonnes.
★ Most sugar mills have stopped production. There is a possibility that the sugar lying in stock may be sold to meet upcoming festive demand, which could impact prices.
★ Compared to last week, prices have increased this week due to rising demand.
★ Sugar prices are expected to improve further in the coming days.
