Sugar Export Target of 10 Lakh Tonnes Seems Difficult
★ So far this season, India has exported 5.38 lakh tonnes of sugar; 2.29 lakh tonnes in the last two months
★ Including goods in transit, total exports exceed 5.61 lakh tonnes
★ According to AISTA, exports may reach up to 8 lakh tonnes by the end of the season
★ Dispatched sugar includes 4.10 lakh tonnes of white, 25,382 tonnes of raw, and 81,845 tonnes of refined sugar
★ Over 21,000 tonnes of raw sugar sent to SEZ refineries also counted as exports
★ Major buyers: Somalia (1.18 lakh tonnes), Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Djibouti, UAE, Libya, Tanzania
★ Sugar production this season estimated at 265.2 lakh tonnes, down 16.9% from last season
★ Closing stock may drop to 45 lakh tonnes by September 30
★ Many mills closed early and crushing days were reduced
★ Monsoon performance remains crucial; sugar prices expected to rise during the festive season
