📍 Hyderabad, India – The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has purchased a record 210.19 lakh quintals of cotton from over 9 lakh farmers in Telangana at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) during the 2024-25 marketing season (October-September).

✅ 110 cotton procurement centers set up.
✅ Total purchase value: ₹15,556 crore.
✅ MSP for cotton (2024-25):
Long-staple: ₹7,521/quintal
Medium-staple: ₹7,121/quintal
✅ Telangana: Top state in cotton procurement, followed by Maharashtra.
📉 Why is CCI Buying in Bulk?
🔸 Cotton prices in the open market have fallen, leading CCI to step in.
🔸 The Central Government has increased MSP significantly over the years:
2014-15: ₹3,750/quintal
2024-25: ₹7,121/quintal
🛍️ Total Cotton Procurement
📦 100+ lakh bales (each bale = 170 kg) purchased across India.
📈 Procurement will continue as long as farmers bring their cotton to the centers.
🌾 Government’s Support to Farmers
🇮🇳 Since 2014-15, the government has procured ₹58,000 crore worth of cotton, benefiting Indian farmers.
