There has been a significant increase in the production and export of pulses in Gujarat:
★ According to APEDA, from April to January, Gujarat exported 2.47 lakh tons of pulses, guar gum, and dairy products.
★ Gujarat ranks first in terms of productivity for tur and chana, and fifth for moong and urad.
★ In 2018-19, pulses were sown over 6.62 lakh hectares in Gujarat. By 2022-23, this area expanded to 13.1 lakh hectares, with production rising from 6.8 lakh tons to 18 lakh tons.
★ There has been a notable growth in chana production over the past several years.
