Ujjain: Big challenge ahead of wheat procurement
★ Wheat procurement at MSP will begin from April 1, but the district is facing storage and gunny bag shortages.
★ Around 8 lakh tonnes of procurement is expected, while warehouses have capacity for only 6 lakh tonnes, leaving a gap of about 2 lakh tonnes.
★ Gunny bags are also in short supply. Across 179 procurement centers, each center has received only 45–50 bundles, which may not last even a week if arrivals are strong.
★ Around 80% of farmers have completed harvesting, so arrivals are expected to pick up तेजी once procurement starts.
★ The administration has initiated the process for silo bags and expects additional gunny bags to arrive within 8 days.
