New Delhi. According to the latest update from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) till April 20, 2025, different parts of the country will witness varied weather conditions.

States like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and western Madhya Pradesh are likely to continue facing severe heat and heatwave conditions.

While some areas are receiving rain and enjoying normal temperatures, others are experiencing intense heat. IMD forecasts very high temperatures in Rajasthan till April 19, in Gujarat from April 15 to 17, and in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and western Madhya Pradesh from April 16 to 18.

Simultaneously, light to heavy rainfall is expected in some regions due to an active Western Disturbance in the western Himachal region from April 16 to 20, peaking on April 18–19.

This may cause rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms across the northwestern plains — conditions that could damage standing Rabi crops and produce brought to markets.

Northwestern India's maximum temperature is expected to rise by 3–5°C, followed by a 2–4°C drop. Central India will see rising temperatures from April 15 to 18 before a decline.

Interior Maharashtra and Gujarat will continue to face heat. Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have already received heavy rains, while southern states are experiencing regular showers.

Pre-monsoon rains in Kerala are benefiting plantation crops, but there are concerns about crop damage in northern India due to storms and hail.

While rainfall is needed for zaid crops and replenishing water reservoirs, storm outbreaks remain a potential threat.
