Gram prices improve due to improved demand

New Delhi. The arrival of gram in major producing markets remained limited this week, due to which the prices of gram improved in the market. The increase in demand supported the prices. Buying activities remained strong till mid-week, due to which the prices of gram increased. However, by the weekend, some reduction in interest was recorded from the buyers, due to which the prices fell slightly. If the demand remains in the coming weeks and there is no significant change in the arrival, then the gram market can see an increase. The stock of gram in Australia is low and there has been a decline in exports to India. Australia exported 2,32,687 tonnes of gram to India in February and 33,000 tonnes in March, but exports were negligible in April. In the coming months, imports are now possible only from Africa. Imports in large quantities are likely to start from October. Due to increased demand from dal millers, prices of Delhi gram improved by Rs. 25 per quintal this week and with this improvement, the prices at the end of the week reached Madhya Pradesh line Rs. 5725/5750 and Rajasthan line Rs. 5775/5800 per quintal.
Port
At present, the availability of gram at Mumbai Port remains weak. Seeing which, the selling by importers has slowed down. Due to weakening of selling by importers and improvement in demand, prices of imported gram registered a rise of Rs. 100/150 per quintal and with this rise, the prices of Mumbai Tanzania became Rs. 5750, Australia Rs. 5875/5900 and Mundra Rs. 5625/5650 per quintal.
Rajasthan
Due to improvement in demand from dal millers and stockists, prices of Rajasthan gram have improved by Rs. 25/50 per quintal this week and with this improvement, the prices at the weekend became Jodhpur Rs. 4800/5300, Jaipur Rs. 5775, Bikaner Rs. 5400/5450, Kishangarh Rs. 5350/5365 and Kota Rs. 4800/5300 per quintal.
Maharashtra
Due to weak selling and better demand, prices of Maharashtra gram have increased by Rs. 150/200 per quintal during the current week and with this increase, the prices at the weekend remained at Solapur Rs. 5700/6200, Latur Rs. 6000/6100, Akola Rs. 6050, Nagpur Rs. 5950 and Ahmednagar Rs. 5500/5700 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to increased buying, prices of Madhya Pradesh gram increased by Rs. 50/100 per quintal this week and with this increase, the prices at the weekend reached Ashoknagar Rs. 5500/5600, Ganjbasoda Rs. 5400/5500, Sagar Rs. 5400/5600, Katni Rs. 5750/5850 and Indore Rs. 5850/6050 per quintal.
Others
Due to support of all-round rise and increase in demand, prices of Raipur gram increased by Rs. 50 per quintal during the current week and with this rise, the prices reached Rs. 5950/6050 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Kanpur gram also improved by Rs. 25 per quintal this week and reached Rs. 5850 per quintal at the weekend.
Gram Dal
Due to support of bullishness in gram and increased buying, prices of gram dal have increased by Rs. 50/100 per quintal during the current week and the prices at the weekend became Delhi Rs. 6725/7075, Bhatapara Rs. 6950, Katni Rs. 7000, Gulbarga Rs. 6800/7000, Jalgaon Rs. 7100/7650, Indore Rs. 6800/7000, Jaipur Rs. 6575 and Kanpur Rs. 6600/6650 per quintal.
