Groundnut Prices Improve Despite Good Arrivals
New Delhi. Despite good arrivals of Kharif groundnuts in major producing states, prices either rose or remained stable during the week of December 13-19 due to government and trade purchases.
Arrivals
In Gondal, Gujarat, despite average daily arrivals of 45,000 bags and 30,000 bags in Rajkot, groundnut prices remained at their previous levels. Heavy government procurement is taking place there.
Rajasthan
Prices rose by Rs. 100 in Bikaner, Rajasthan, and Solapur, Maharashtra. A rise of Rs. 100 was also seen in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, but the biggest increase was recorded in Mahoba, where groundnut prices jumped by Rs. 1000 to reach a high of Rs. 5300/6700 per quintal. Prices softened by Rs. 100 in Mauranipur.
Groundnut Kernels
Due to good trading activity in shelled groundnut kernels, prices increased by Rs. 200-300 per quintal in Bikaner. In Solapur, the price rose by Rs. 400-500, and in Nagpur by Rs. 100 per quintal. Oil millers and exporters purchased the kernels.
Groundnut Oil
The price of loose groundnut oil rose by Rs. 50 to Rs. 1350 per 10 kg in Gondal, Rajkot, Junagadh, and Jamnagar in Gujarat. In Rajkot, the price of a 15 kg tin of oil also increased by Rs. 70 to Rs. 2460. Besides this, groundnut oil prices also saw a good increase in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bikaner, Niwai/Tonk, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
Branded Oil
The price of branded groundnut oil remained stable at ₹2350 per tin (15 liters) in Kota, but the price of filtered groundnut oil increased by up to ₹100 per 10 kg in Jaipur and Niwai.
Groundnut (DOC)
There was also good trading in groundnut DOC, leading to a price increase of up to ₹500 per ton. The supply of groundnuts is increasing in the major wholesale markets of the key producing states.
