Mustard Prices Rise on Falling Arrivals and Strong Buying
New Delhi: Mustard prices saw a notable rise during the week of April 5–11, driven by declining arrivals, government procurement, and increased buying by traders and millers across major producing states.
Market Prices:
Delhi: 42% condition mustard rose by Rs 200 to Rs 6300/quintal
Jaipur: Up by Rs 150 to Rs 6425–6450/quintal
Gujarat (Deesa, Dhanera): Increased by Rs 200/quintal
Rajasthan (Bundi): Jumped by Rs 500/quintal
Uttar Pradesh (Hapur): Up by Rs 100 to Rs 6400/quintal
Agra: Increased by Rs 175 to Rs 6700–6950/quintal
Arrivals (in 50 kg bags):
April 5: 10.50 lakh
April 7: 9.50 lakh
April 8: 8 lakh
April 10: 5 lakh
April 11: 6.25 lakh
Government Procurement:
Procurement has started but is progressing slowly. The MSP is Rs 5950/quintal, and market prices are hovering around or above this level. This year’s mustard crop has better quality—lower moisture and higher oil content, adding to the price strength.
Mustard Oil:
Delhi (Expeller): Up by Rs 15 to Rs 1300/10 kg
Mumbai: Rose by Rs 45 to Rs 1335/10 kg
Bikaner: Down by Rs 30 to Rs 1270/10 kg
Mustard DOC (Rapeseed Meal):
High demand from China due to its 100% duty on Canadian canola is boosting Indian mustard meal prospects. Rising exports could further lift prices.
