Rise in mustard continues due to heavy demand from oil mills
New Delhi. The trend of tremendous increase in mustard prices continued during the week of 12-18 July due to less than normal supply in important markets of major producing states and tremendous demand from oil mills. As a result, prices of mustard oil, cake and DOC also increased. Government agencies have increased the sale of mustard from their stock.
42% condition mustard
During the week under review, the price of 42 percent condition mustard increased by Rs 200 to Rs 7300 per quintal in Delhi and jumped by Rs 350 in Jaipur to reach the top level of Rs 7550 per quintal. The price of normal average quality mustard was also seen to be quite high in other markets.
Price
In Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan, it jumped by Rs 600 to reach Rs 6800/7200 per quintal. There was a sharp rise of 100 to 400 rupees in the prices of mustard in the markets of Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. In Morena and Porsa of Madhya Pradesh, the price of mustard jumped by 475 rupees and reached a high of 7125 rupees and 7000 rupees per quintal respectively. In Gwalior too, mustard rose by 200 rupees and reached 7000/7100 rupees per quintal.
Haryana
Meanwhile, in Charkhi Dadri of Haryana, the price of mustard also jumped by 400 rupees and reached 7450 rupees per quintal. There was a sharp rise in other markets too. But surprisingly, the price of mustard in Bikaner of Rajasthan remained at the previous level of 4500/5000 rupees per quintal, while in all other major markets of the country it reached a level much higher than the government support price of 5950 rupees per quintal. In Agra, Uttar Pradesh, the price of mustard rose by Rs 450 to a record high of Rs 7900/8250 per quintal.
Mustard Oil
With the sharp rise in mustard prices, the price of mustard oil expeller and Kachi Ghani registered a huge increase of up to Rs 120 per 10 kg (Rs 12 per kg). In Delhi, the price of expeller rose by Rs 100 to Rs 1635 per 10 kg. In almost all centers, the price of mustard oil is running at Rs 160 per kg or above. In Kolkata, Kachi Ghani oil has reached Rs 170 per kg.
Mustard Cake (DOC)
There was a good improvement in the business and price of mustard cake. Its price increased by Rs 40 to Rs 90 per quintal, but fluctuations were seen in the price of DOC.
