Mustard prices soften due to weakening demand at higher levels
New Delhi. For the past several months, mustard prices have been experiencing limited fluctuations at higher levels in important wholesale markets in major producing states. This trend continued during the week of September 17-19, but this time, the price of mustard remained stable at Rs. 7,100 per quintal in Delhi but fell by Rs. 50 to Rs. 7,300 per quintal in Jaipur.
Prices
The price of mustard of general average quality remained almost stable with minor fluctuations in Gujarat and Haryana markets, but there was a decline of Rs. 100 in Morena market of Madhya Pradesh and Rs. 150 in Porsa market.
Rajasthan
A mixed trend was observed in Rajasthan, the major producing state. There, mustard prices fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6,900 per quintal in Bharatpur and by Rs 150 to Rs 6,950 per quintal in October. Some other markets also saw a decline of Rs 100-125, while in Tonk, the price fell by Rs 175 to Rs 6,775 per quintal. Meanwhile, the price of this important oilseed rose by Rs 200 in Kota and Rs 300 in Bikaner, reaching Rs 6,300/6,900 per quintal and Rs 6,300/6,700 per quintal, respectively.
Uttar Pradesh
Mustard prices fell by Rs 100 and Rs 75 in Hapur and Agra markets in Uttar Pradesh. Mustard oil prices also declined by Rs 20-30 per 10 kg.
Delhi
The price of expeller in Delhi fell by Rs 25 to Rs 1,515 per 10 kg. In Kota, it fell by Rs 36 to Rs 1425. Demand for mustard oil weakened due to the high price.
