Paddy prices stable due to low arrival and limited demand - Mixed trend in rice
New Delhi. Vigorous cultivation of Kharif paddy is still going on and due to good monsoon rains, its area is increasing. Meanwhile, the supply of paddy in the markets is decreasing a lot. There is no or negligible arrival of general category non-Basmati paddy, while the supply of 'A' grade and premium quality Basmati paddy is also decreasing a lot.
Delhi
During the week of 19 to 25 July, an average of 1500-2500 bags of paddy arrived in Delhi's Narela Mandi, while on 24 July it increased to 7000 bags. Generally, the prices remained stable, but the price of 1718 fell by Rs 35 to Rs 37.50 per quintal.
Chhattisgarh
Amid daily arrival of 5-6 thousand bags of paddy in Rajim Mandi of Chhattisgarh, the price of Mahamaya increased by Rs 230 to Rs 2950 per quintal. There, daily arrival of 5-6 thousand bags of paddy was also recorded in Bhatapara Mandi.
Rajasthan
1000-2000 bags of paddy arrived in Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan and 500 bags of paddy arrived in Kota Mandi daily. The price in Bundi was up by Rs 100, while the price of paddy in Kota Mandi fell by Rs 100-200 per quintal.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, due to slow business of HMT in Bhatapara, the price fell by Rs 200 to Rs 5200 per quintal. Similarly, in Amritsar Mandi of Punjab, the prices of rice of different varieties and categories fell by Rs 100 to Rs 300 per quintal. There, the demand for rice from domestic traders as well as exporters has weakened.
Uttarakhand
Last week, a good increase was seen in the price of rice in the Nagar Mandi of Uttarakhand, but during the week under review, it increased by only 50-100 rupees per quintal. The price of rice also improved a bit in the Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan.
Delhi
Due to lack of buyers in Delhi's Naya Bazar, the price of 1121 steam and sella and 1401 sella rice fell by 100 rupees per quintal.
