Peanut prices improved in UP amid limited trading

New Delhi. Although during the week of 3rd to 9th May, due to limited trading in the markets of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, the price of peanuts remained at the previous level, but due to some buying in Uttar Pradesh (UP), prices improved by 100-200 rupees. In Rajkot market of Gujarat, 4-5 thousand bags of peanuts arrived daily and the price remained stable at 6000/8000 rupees per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
In Jhansi market of Uttar Pradesh, with an average daily arrival of 1000-2000 bags, the price of groundnut rose by Rs 200 to Rs 4500/4900 per quintal, in Mahoba with the arrival of 1750-2750 bags, the price rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4500/5000 per quintal and in Mauranipur with the supply of 750-1650 bags, the price improved by Rs 50 to Rs 4500/4800 per quintal.
Groundnut seeds
The business of shellless groundnut seeds remained sluggish and prices remained stable. In Jaipur, the price of 60/70 count seeds fell by Rs 100 to Rs 7500 per quintal. In Nagpur also, the price of 50/60 count grain fell by Rs. 200 to Rs. 10200 per quintal and the price of 60/70 count grain fell by Rs. 100 to Rs. 9600 per quintal. The business of other count grains remained very sluggish.
Groundnut oil
There was a good business in groundnut oil in loose form due to which its price increased by Rs. 1 to Rs. 6 per kg. The price of groundnut oil in Rajkot, Junagadh, Jamnagar and Gondal increased by Rs. 35 to reach Rs. 1325 per 10 kg. Apart from this, the price remained high in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bikaner and Newai/Tonk as well. There was no change in the prices of branded groundnut oil in Kota and the price remained stable at the old level. A rise and fall of Rs. 10-15 was seen in filtered oil.
Purchase / Sale
The government made record purchases of groundnut in the Kharif marketing season 2024-25 and it is now being sold. This is likely to increase pressure on supply and availability.
