Peanut prices soften due to slow buyers
New Delhi. Peanut prices softened during the week of July 12-18 due to low buyers' activity amid normal supply in the markets.
Arrival
8-8 thousand bags of peanuts arrived in Rajkot market of Gujarat on July 12 and 14, but due to weak prices, the arrival also started decreasing and on July 18, this decline was reduced to just 1500 bags. Despite this, due to weak business, the price of peanuts there fell by Rs 500 to Rs 6500/7580 per quintal.
Rajasthan
Similarly, the price of peanuts in Jodhpur, Rajasthan fell by Rs 200 to Rs 6500 per quintal, but remained stable at Rs 5200 per quintal in Bikaner. Mixed trend was seen in the markets of Uttar Pradesh. There, the price of peanuts in Mahoba market fell by Rs 100 to Rs 4800/5100 per quintal, while in Mauranipur it improved by Rs 100 to reach Rs 4600/5100 per quintal. In Jhansi, the price remained stable at Rs 4500/4900 per quintal. Daily arrival of peanuts was 1700-2000 bags in Jhansi, 750-1100 bags in Mahoba and 750-1000 bags in Mauranipur.
Groundnut seeds
Due to limited business in shellless groundnut seeds, prices remained stable to a great extent, but in Bikaner, the price of 40/50 count increased by Rs 300 to Rs 8800 per quintal. On the other hand, the price of 50/60 count in Nagpur, Maharashtra fell by Rs 100 to Rs 10200 per quintal.
Groundnut Oil
Groundnut oil in bulk traded normally and its price increased by Rs. 25 to Rs. 1425 per 10 kg in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh and Jamnagar in Gujarat. It increased by Rs. 50 to Rs. 1400/1410 per 10 kg in Ahmedabad. Apart from this, it was up by Rs. 10 each in Mumbai, Bikaner and Newai/Tonk and Rs. 50 in Chennai.
Branded Oil
The price of branded groundnut oil in Kota (Rajasthan) increased by Rs. 50 to Rs. 2400 per tin (15 kg). It witnessed good demand from buyers. Similarly, the price of filtered groundnut oil increased by Rs. 15-30 per 10 kg in Jaipur and a plant in Newai also increased the price by Rs. 20 to Rs. 2780.
Peanut DOC
Peanut DOC saw good demand from buyers due to which its prices saw a jump of Rs 500 to Rs 1500 per tonne. This gave some relief to the plants. Kharif season peanuts are being sown well.
