Soybean prices soften due to weak buying by millers

New Delhi. Soybean is being purchased in limited quantity by crushing-processing units, soybean DOC prices have softened.
Plant Price
In the week of June 21-27, the plant delivery price of soybean declined by Rs 25 to Rs 100 per quintal in top producing states like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. The price of soybean was already running far behind the minimum support price of Rs 4892 per quintal, while in the current week it has declined further.
Purchase
The government agency had purchased record quantity of soybean from farmers during the Kharif marketing season of 2024-25 and now has started releasing this stock back into the market. This is increasing pressure on prices and farmers are not getting fair price.
Sowing
Meanwhile, sowing of soybean has started in the country but initial indications show that the enthusiasm and attraction of farmers towards its cultivation may decrease. This situation cannot be considered good. There has been a good increase in the minimum support price of soybean but it seems that farmers are not much affected by it.
Decline
During the week under review, the price of soybean refined oil also declined by 10 to 35 rupees per 10 kg. Crude degummed soybean oil is being imported on a large scale from abroad. Its price has increased a bit in the supplier countries due to which the cost of arrival of imported edible oil at Indian ports has increased by 3 to 5 percent but the customs duty is much less than before.
Soya Oil (Refined)
Soya refined oil fell by Rs 25 to Rs 1190 per 10 kg in Kota, Rs 100 to Rs 1150 per 10 kg in Mumbai and Rs 15 each in Kandla and Haldia to Rs 1160 and Rs 1155 per 10 kg respectively.
Arrival
2.10 lakh bags of soyabean arrived in the mandis of major producing states on June 23, which fell to 2.00 lakh bags on June 24 and to 1.70 lakh bags on June 26. Each bag is of 100 kg.
Soya Cake (DOC)
Soya DOC prices showed a mixed trend but generally remained in a downtrend. Its export offer price has come down due to which the income of millers is getting affected and they are not getting adequate incentive to buy soyabean from farmers at higher prices.
