Soybean prices improve due to demand for oil and meal

New Delhi. During the week from 28 June to 4 July, the plant delivery price of soybean in the three top producing states - Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan recorded an improvement of 25-50 rupees per quintal as some demand was seen in soybean oil and soybean meal.
Price
Soybean prices improved to Rs 4400/4500 per quintal but still remained below the minimum support price of Rs 4892 per quintal. Sowing of soybean has already started in the major producing states but in view of the weak market price, a decline of 5 percent in its area is expected. Although the government has increased the minimum support price of soybean by Rs 436 to Rs 5328 per quintal for the next marketing season, it seems that it will not have any special positive effect on the farmers.
Soya Oil (Refined)
During the week under review, the price of soya refined oil increased by Rs 10-15 per kg. Most of the mills increased the price by Rs 15. The price of soya refined oil increased by Rs 25 to Rs 1210 per 10 kg in Kota and by Rs 15 to Rs 1170 per 10 kg in Kandla. Its price remained stable at Rs 1150 in Mumbai while it improved by Rs 5 to Rs 1170 in Haldia.
Arrival
Arrival of soyabean in domestic markets was 2.50 lakh bags on July 1 which fell to 2.30 lakh bags on July 4. Each bag of soyabean weighs 100 kg.
Soya Cake (DOC)
Prices saw an increase due to some improvement in domestic and export demand of soya DOC. On the basis of mills, it increased from Rs 200 to Rs 1000 per tonne, which provided relief to many plants. Due to improvement in prices abroad, Indian exporters got good success in contracting export of soybean meal. Domestic buyers were also seen to be active.
Soybean purchase
Government purchase of soybean reached record levels for the Kharif marketing season of 2024-25. The government is now releasing it again in the market, so it seems difficult for prices to rise much. Sporadic arrivals of new soybean crop are expected to start from the second fortnight of September.
