Turmeric sowing 30/35 percent more: Possibility of rise in the coming days
New Delhi. Although the area of turmeric sowing has increased in all the producing states during the current season, but due to low stock of goods in the spot market, there is a possibility of rise in prices in the coming days. It is worth mentioning that for some time now, due to low export and local trade in turmeric, prices have remained soft, but it is expected that exports will increase from August. And prices will also improve. During the current week, apart from the spot markets, the prices of turmeric have also been quoted softly in the futures market.
Sowing
Informed sources say that the sowing of turmeric has been completed in most producing states. As per the information received so far, apart from Marathwada, turmeric has been sown on 30/35 percent more area on Sangli line and Nizamabad line. Sowing work has started in Andhra Pradesh. It is estimated that the area of sowing will be 20/25 more.
Low arrivals
Due to falling prices and weak stock, the arrivals of turmeric in the markets have reduced considerably. Sources say that except for Nanded and Basmatnagar Mandi of Marathwada, the arrivals at other production centers have come down to the minimum level. Arrivals in Erode Mandi have come down to 500/600 bags, whereas in Nizamabad, the arrivals are of 1400/1500 bags. Apart from this, the arrivals in Sangli are of 900/1000 bags. Arrivals in Hingoli and Basmatnagar are of 4000/5000 bags.
Stock estimate
Experts say that except for Marathwada line, the stock of turmeric has reduced considerably in other areas. It is estimated that the farmers of Marathwada (Hingoli, Basmat, Nanded) still have a stock of 13/15 lakh bags of turmeric. Whereas the stock in other states is almost over. Experts believe that at present the stock of turmeric in the consumption centers and producing states is believed to be around 40/42 lakh bags. Which is not sufficient till the new crop arrives. The arrival of the new crop will start in the month of February-March. According to an estimate, at present, apart from Nizamabad having 4/5 lakh bags, Erode having 4/5 lakh bags, Sangli is also believed to have a stock of 3/4 lakh bags. Whereas the stock in Duggirala and Warangal is estimated to be 4/5 lakh bags. Apart from this, the stock at the consumption centers is likely to be 8/10 lakh bags.
Slowdown-Rise
Sources believe that there is no possibility of much slowdown in the current prices of turmeric. As far as the rise is concerned, it will depend on the rain and export demand in the coming days. Turmeric exports have been affected for some time due to the bad conditions abroad. Possibility is being expressed. There will be export demand for turmeric in the months of August-September. In that case, prices may increase. During the month of July, prices will remain between Rs 3/5 per kg slow-fast. Currently, the price of turmeric single polish bundle in Delhi market is Rs 135/138.
