Limited fluctuations in wheat prices in mandis except Rajkot
New Delhi. Wheat prices have now started stabilizing to a great extent because on one hand, flour millers / processors have a good stock of it and traders / stockists have also succeeded in buying a good quantity of this important food grain from farmers this time, while the government has imposed a stock limit on wheat. Wheat is arriving well in many mandis and there is a buzz in the market that the government can start selling wheat under OMSS from next month.
Delhi
During the week from 28 June to 4 July, the price of wheat improved by Rs 5 in Delhi to Rs 2735-2740 per quintal and jumped by Rs 300 to Rs 2500/300 per quintal in Rajkot. On an average, 5-10 thousand sacks of wheat arrived daily in Delhi and 1500/3000 sacks of wheat arrived in Rajkot daily.
Madhya Pradesh
The prices of wheat improved by 10 to 40 rupees per quintal in the mandis of Madhya Pradesh, but in Dabra it fell by 40 rupees to 2520/2560 rupees per quintal. There was no movement in Indore and Dewas.
Rajasthan
There was good demand for wheat in Kota, Rajasthan, due to which its price increased by 40 rupees to 2430/2640 rupees per quintal. Bundi also saw an improvement of 10 rupees.
Uttar Pradesh
Amid normal business in the mandis of Uttar Pradesh, the price of wheat fluctuated by 10-20 rupees per quintal. In Gorakhpur mandi, 8-10 thousand sacks of wheat were supplied daily, but its price slipped by 20 rupees to 2460 rupees per quintal.
Stock / Sales
It seems that in this most prominent producing state of the country, farmers have saved their stock of wheat so that it can be sold at a higher price in the off season of supply. There, only 10.27 lakh tonnes of wheat could be procured by the government against the target of 30 lakh tonnes.
Punjab-Haryana
While the flour millers of Punjab-Haryana also did not get much success in procuring wheat there. But the government has a good stock of wheat overall, due to which it can control the rise in market price.
