Mixed trend in wheat prices due to limited buying by buyers

New Delhi. Due to normal supply and continued limited buying by millers and processors, wheat prices showed a mixed trend during the week of December 13-19, with some areas seeing price increases and others decreases.
Delhi
In Delhi, with a daily arrival of 5000-8000 bags, the price of wheat fell by 10 rupees to Rs. 2790/2800 per quintal. In Rajkot, wheat prices were soft last week, but this week they rose by 100 rupees to Rs. 2500/3100 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Wheat arrivals are normal in the markets of Madhya Pradesh. During the week under review, the price of wheat fell by 30 rupees in Dabra, but increased by 150 rupees in Ujjain and 40 rupees per quintal in Itarsi.
Rajasthan
On the other hand, in Kota, Rajasthan, due to weak trading, the price of wheat fell by 70 rupees to a low of Rs. 2400/2500 per quintal. Arrivals of goods are low in the markets of Uttar Pradesh. Good wheat sowing is being reported in this state. Prices there were 20-30 rupees higher. The Jalna market in Maharashtra remained quiet.
Sowing picks up pace
Despite generally soft wholesale market prices for the most important food grain of the Rabi season, the sowing area is increasing rapidly. By December 12 this year, the production area had jumped by about 1.7 million hectares compared to last year, reaching over 27.5 million hectares.
Increase in MSP
Indian farmers continue to show tremendous enthusiasm and interest in wheat cultivation. The government has increased its Minimum Support Price (MSP) by 160 rupees, setting it at Rs. 2585 per quintal for the 2025-26 season. During the current season, the production of this important food grain is estimated to increase to over 120 million tonnes, which would be an all-time high. This could continue to put pressure on domestic market prices.
