Wheat Crop Currently Out of Danger: IIWBR
★ According to the Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR), the difference between the maximum and minimum temperatures is 15°C, which is favorable for the crop. Most farmers have planted heat-resistant varieties of wheat.
★ The Meteorological Department’s report suggests that temperatures in central and northwestern regions could rise by 2-3°C, by 1°C in Rajasthan, and by 3-4°C in eastern India over the next four days.
★ The Meteorological Department predicts rainfall in certain regions of western Rajasthan between February 17-19, Punjab and Haryana between February 19-20, eastern Rajasthan between February 18-19, and Uttar Pradesh on February 20.
★ The government has set a target of 1150 lakh tons of wheat production for this year, compared to 1332.9 lakh tons in the previous year, according to official data.
