Wheat Harvest Reaches 5%
★ Wheat harvesting across the country has reached around 5% so far. Harvesting is about 25% complete in Maharashtra, 90% in Karnataka, and over 60% in Gujarat, while harvesting has begun in Madhya Pradesh. In Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, harvesting is expected to start from tomorrow. Due to recent rainfall, the crop is running around 10 days behind schedule.
★ In some areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, rainfall has caused damage to the crop. In several fields the crop has lodged (fallen over). This may not significantly impact the overall production, but it is likely to affect the quality of the grain.

★ Yesterday, IGrain India conducted a field survey of wheat crops from Greater Noida via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to Faridabad, Palwal, Sohna, and Gurugram.
★ The survey observed that around 10–15% of the crop has lodged in Faridabad and Palwal, but as the survey moved toward Sohna and Nuh, the crop damage was considerably lower. Crop condition in this belt appears strong.
★ Wheat prices are currently trading below MSP, which could provide the government with a good opportunity to increase procurement.
