2024-25 Season: 102 Sugar Mills Shut Down in Maharashtra
★ Out of 200 sugar mills, 102 have closed operations for the 2024-25 season.
★ Mill closures as of March 4: Solapur – 41, Kolhapur – 22, Pune – 12, Nanded – 11, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – 10, Ahilyanagar – 6.
★ Last season, only 38 mills had shut by this time, now the number has tripled.
★ Production so far: 76.43 lakh tons (vs. 95.92 lakh tons last season).
★ Total crushing: 814.92 lakh tons (vs. 954.34 lakh tons last season).
★ Sugar recovery rate: 9.38%, down from 10.05% last year.
