About 62 thousand tonnes of turmeric exported in April-July

Warangal. The export performance of turmeric has been somewhat weak since last year. According to the available data, during the first four months of the current financial year i.e.

April-July 2024, 61,609 tonnes of turmeric was exported from India, which was about 10 thousand tonnes less than the shipment of 71,617 tonnes during the same period last year.

Compared to last year, during the current year, turmeric exports declined from 19,591 tonnes to 14,109 tonnes in April, fell from 19,828 tonnes to 17415 tonnes in May and declined from 18,357 tonnes to 14,974 tonnes in June, but increased from 13,842 tonnes to 15,111 tonnes in July.

During the entire period (April-March) of the financial year 2023-24, a total of 1.62 lakh tonnes of turmeric was exported from the country.

Its shipment quantity was recorded at 11,323 tonnes in August 2023, 9,086 tonnes in September, 10,138 tonnes in October, 8582 tonnes in November and 10,426 tonnes in December 2023 while its export reached 10,492 tonnes in January 2024, 12,923 tonnes in February and 17,433 tonnes in March 2024.

As far as fenugreek is concerned, its total export during the first quarter of the current financial year i.e. April-June 2024 reached 9352 tonnes which was slightly higher than the shipment of 7624 tonnes in April-June 2023. Compared to last year,

during the current year, export of fenugreek from India jumped from 2273 tonnes to 3317 tonnes in April, improved from 3848 tonnes to 3954 tonnes in May and increased from 1503 tonnes to 2081 tonnes in June.

During the entire period of financial year 2023-24, a total of 28,301 tonnes of fenugreek was exported from the country.

This included shipments of 2191 tonnes in July 2023, 1923 tonnes in August, 1200 tonnes in September, 2273 tonnes in October,

1832 tonnes in November, 2515 tonnes in December 2023, 1978 tonnes in January 2024, 3401 tonnes in February and 3366 tonnes in March 2024.
