New Delhi: Estimating the country's fertilizer requirement for the Kharif 2026 season at 390.54 lakh tonnes, the Union Ministry of Agriculture has stated that an adequate stock is available, and supplies are being ensured to all states in accordance with their specific needs. The sowing of Kharif crops is set to commence next month with the arrival of the first monsoon showers.

A senior official from the Ministry of Fertilizers noted that the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of key chemical fertilizers remains stable. The country currently holds a comfortable stock of fertilizers, which is being managed and distributed efficiently.

Relative to the total requirements for the Kharif season, a stock exceeding 51 percent is currently available, and arrangements are being made to meet the remaining requirements.

Typically, prior to the commencement of the season, a fertilizer stock equivalent to 33 percent of the total requirement is available, with subsequent needs being met through domestic production and imports.
