Agricultural and Processed Food Exports Rise  
India's agricultural and processed food exports increased by 13% to $22.67 billion during the April-February (FY25) period. The primary driver of this growth was a 21% surge in rice exports.

Rice Exports:  
- The total rice exports, including basmati and non-basmati varieties, rose by 21% to $11 billion, compared to $9.32 billion during the same period last year.  
- The government eased rice export restrictions in September 2024, boosting exports. All restrictions, including the minimum export price, have now been removed.

APEDA's Target:  
- The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has set an export target of $26.56 billion for FY25. 
- Rice exports are expected to grow by another 15%, potentially surpassing $12 billion in FY25, setting a new record.

Premium Basmati Rice:  
- The export target for premium basmati rice is set at 5 million tonnes.  
- Despite payment settlement issues with Iran, the global demand for basmati rice remains strong.
