Brazil's Corn Production Forecast Raised by 1.26 Million Tonnes

São Paulo. Given the excellent crop conditions in Brazil, Conab—an agency under the federal government—has raised its domestic corn production forecast by 1.26 million tonnes, setting it at 141.72 million tonnes. This represents a very high level of production.

It is noteworthy that Brazil ranks second globally in corn exports (after the US) and third in production (after the US and China). Corn production in Brazil takes place across three seasons: the first (or full) season, the second (or *Safrinha*) season, and the third (or special) season.

However, the domestic corn production estimate of 141.72 million tonnes for the 2025-26 season, as projected in Conab's new (July) report, is 0.57 million tonnes (or 0.4 percent) lower than the final revised production figure for the 2024-25 season.

The agency has projected domestic corn production of 41.40 million tonnes for the 2025-26 first (or full) season, which is 0.8 percent higher than the production in the corresponding season. Conversely, *Safrinha* corn production is expected to decline by 3.79 million tonnes (or 3.4 percent) to 109.43 million tonnes.

Corn production of 2.69 million tonnes is anticipated for the third (or special) season. Although the sowing area for *Safrinha* corn increased by 2.1 percent to reach 17.79 million hectares, the average yield rate is projected to rise by 5.5 percent to 6,148 kg per hectare. Harvesting is currently underway.
