Limited Price Fluctuations Likely in Pulse Market

Mumbai: The India Pulses and Grains Association, a leading trade body, has stated that gram prices may remain somewhat firm in the near future, while prices of Tur (pigeon pea) and Urad (black gram) are likely to witness limited volatility.

The gram market will continue to receive support from low supplies, strong demand, and buying activity by millers and stockists. With the festive season approaching in India, demand—particularly for *besan* (gram flour)—is expected to rise. Given the limited market arrivals, dal millers and processors may attempt to build or increase their gram stocks.

The outlook for the gram crop in Australia is not encouraging; a significant drop in production is anticipated there. This will reduce exportable stocks, potentially driving prices higher if demand from importing nations increases.

However, the government currently holds substantial stocks of gram, which could help boost supply and availability in the domestic market. While the acreage for Kharif pulse crops is trailing behind last year's figures, sowing has not yet concluded in exporting countries; any rise in Tur and Urad prices could impact the domestic market as well.
