New Delhi: The Union Budget for the financial year 2026-27 (April-March) is likely to be presented in Parliament on February 1, 2026, as was the case last year.
The date had raised concerns because February 1st falls on a Sunday, and Parliament is usually closed on Sundays.
However, high-ranking sources say that there is no likelihood of a change in the budget presentation date, and the preparations by the Finance Ministry and other concerned departments are proceeding according to schedule. This Union Budget will be presented in the Lok Sabha at the traditional time.
In this upcoming Union Budget, senior citizens may receive tax relief, and the tax-free limit for LPG is expected to be increased. The Finance Minister's focus may be on tax reforms.
In addition, some important announcements may be made in the budget for the manufacturing sector. Provisions may be made for necessary measures to enable Indian industries to compete with the high 50 percent tariffs imposed in the US.
The middle class has high expectations from this budget, and the Finance Minister will likely not disappoint them completely.
A larger allocation of funds may be made for the agricultural sector. The pulses and oilseeds mission has already been launched, and adequate funds have been allocated for it.
It would not be surprising if the government announces a new scheme to increase domestic production.
The Finance Minister may take some steps to provide relief to the common man from inflation. The economic changes are expected to have a somewhat positive impact on household budgets.
The government has not yet announced a definite date for the budget session of Parliament, and an official notification is awaited.
