CACP Recommendation: Linking MSP of Oilseeds to Oil Content
★ The Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) has recommended that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for mustard and safflower for the Rabi 2026-27 season be determined based on oil content. The aim is to encourage farmers to adopt high-oil varieties and increase their income.
★ For mustard, CACP suggested setting the MSP at 34% oil content and for safflower at 28% oil content, with an additional incentive for every 0.25% increase above this benchmark. The objective is to promote the cultivation of improved varieties, expand the area under oilseed crops, and reduce edible oil imports.
