Season 2024-25
★ Exports were around 2.2 million tonnes, down 8% compared to 2023-24.
★ Lower exports to China and the US were partially offset by higher exports to India and Bangladesh.
★ Despite lower exports and higher domestic consumption, increased production in 2024-25 pushed carry-out stocks up to an estimated 0.53 million tonnes, higher than last year and above the five-year average.
★ Due to higher carry-out stocks, the average price for all types of dry peas dropped sharply, with 2024-25 average prices falling 12% compared to 2023-24 levels.

Season 2025-26
★ Canadian dry pea production is expected to rise sharply to 3.5 million tonnes.
★ With higher production and larger carry-in stocks, total supply is projected to increase by 21% to 4.0 million tonnes.
★ Exports are forecast to decline slightly to 2.1 million tonnes, with India, Bangladesh, and the US remaining Canada’s top export markets.
★ Carry-out stocks are projected to rise to a record 1.28 million tonnes.
★ Average prices are expected to decline further compared to 2024-25, mainly due to abundant supply.

★ According to USDA, in 2025-26, the US dry pea seeded area is expected to increase by 10% to nearly 1.1 million acres, while production is forecast to rise to 0.8 million tonnes.
