Canada Lentil Production & Export Update: AAFC
Season 2024-25
★ Lentil exports reached 1.9 million tonnes, up 13% compared to the previous year. Of this, 1.2 million tonnes were red lentils and 0.7 million tonnes were green lentils.
★ Domestic consumption increased to 0.32 million tonnes compared to 2023-24, while carry-out stocks rose to 0.5 million tonnes.
★ The average Canadian lentil price fell 21% from 2023-24 to \$790 per tonne.
★ No.1 large green lentil prices maintained an average premium of \$610 per tonne over No.1 red lentil prices.

Season 2025-26
★ Lentil production is forecast to rise by 7% to 2.6 million tonnes.
★ Total green lentil area has increased, while red lentil area has declined.
★ With higher production and larger carry-in stocks, total supply is expected to increase significantly.
★ Exports are projected to reach 2.1 million tonnes, but carry-out stocks are also expected to rise due to abundant supply.
★ Average prices are forecast to decline compared to 2024-25 due to higher domestic and global availability.

★ According to USDA, the area seeded to lentils in 2025-26 is expected to increase by 8% to 1.0 million acres.
★ U.S. lentil production is forecast to rise 4% to 0.43 million tonnes in 2025-26.
