Canada Market Update
Peas
★ There has been little change in pea prices this week. India’s extension of the zero-import tariff into 2026 has not had a significant impact yet, as India currently holds ample stock.
Current Pricing:
★ Yellow Peas: Old and new crop both remain steady at $9.00 to $9.50/bu (picked up)
Green Peas:
★ Old crop: $16.00 to $16.50/bu (picked up)
★ New crop: Around $13.50/bu (with AOG clause)
★ Maple Peas: Old and new crop both holding at $12.00 to $13.00/bu (picked up)
★ Pea seeding is now complete.

Lentils
★ Lentil bids have softened as buyers wait for new crop arrivals.
★ Lower exports in March and April have resulted in higher ending stocks.
★ Green lentils are under pressure, partly due to ongoing weakness in India's tur market.
★ Red lentil prices have also declined in recent weeks due to limited export demand.
★ Weather is becoming a concern in Saskatchewan, with heat, dryness, and strong winds potentially affecting crop conditions.
★ Last week’s report showed 79% of lentil crops in good to excellent condition, but growers say rainfall is urgently needed in the next 5 to 10 days to maintain or improve those ratings.

Kabuli Chickpeas
★ The chickpea market remains steady through mid-June with sluggish demand.
★ Old crop prices for good-sized chickpeas are in the range of $0.30 to $0.39/lb, while chickpeas under 9mm are being discounted.
★ For new crop, buyers are offering contracts that include a 10 bpa (bushels per acre) Act of God clause.
★ Current prices range from approximately $0.27/lb FOB for small-sized chickpeas to $0.33/lb FOB farm for larger-sized Kabuli types.
