Saskatoon. In Saskatchewan, Canada's most prominent agricultural producer state, preparations are on for harvesting the new crop of peas and exporters are mainly focused on India.

Yellow peas are being imported to India. Canadian exports are eyeing whether the Indian government extends the time limit for duty-free import of yellow peas or not.

At present, the price of peas in the Indian market is soft because it was imported in huge quantities during the pulse months and a large part of it is still present.

But an important thing is that the price of Desi gram has jumped to a new record level, in view of which the import of yellow peas can be increased.

Yellow peas are considered a better and cheaper alternative to Desi gram. If this happens, it will prove beneficial for Canadian exporters. But for this, time will have to be waited.

The price of yellow peas in the domestic sector of Canada is currently running at $ 10 per bushel, while the option of immediate export is also available.

The price of green peas is being reported to be $13.00-13.25 per bushel and the price of maple peas is being reported to be $17-18 per bushel.

Canada is facing tough competition from Russia in the Chinese pea market and there will be competition between the two countries in India as well.

Pea production in Canada is expected to increase while Russia's production is being reported to be somewhat weak. The price of yellow peas in the global market is likely to be slightly lower than last year.
