CCI activated 61 centers for cotton procurement
The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has significantly expanded its cotton procurement efforts by activating 61 centers, up from the previous 40. This expansion is aimed at enhancing the availability and accessibility of cotton procurement for farmers. In response to the needs of cotton growers, these centers will now remain open from Monday to Saturday, with extended hours until 7:30 pm.

A key challenge in cotton procurement is the moisture content in cotton, as high moisture levels can negatively affect its market price. This change is designed to help mitigate such issues by allowing more time for cotton to be collected and processed.

Additionally, there is a proposal to extend the procurement campaign until March 2025, which would provide farmers with more time to sell their produce under government support, ensuring fairer prices and reducing the pressure to sell during the off-season.
