CCI Cotton Sales Cross 67 Lakh Bales on Strong Demand

Mumbai. The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), under the Union Ministry of Textiles, has sold 67.09 lakh bales (each 170 kg) of cotton from its stock as of July 11, 2025. The strong demand from textile mills and reduced stocks with traders have helped the corporation accelerate its sales.
During the 2024–25 marketing season (October–September), CCI had procured about 100 lakh bales from major cotton-producing states at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). With over 67 lakh bales already sold, the corporation now holds a stock of around 33 lakh bales.
Cotton supply is currently in the off-season, while sowing for the upcoming crop is ongoing. As cotton millers and traders face limited availability in the open market, they are increasingly reliant on CCI’s inventory. The demand is also being supported by substantial imports.
According to the All India Cotton Brokers Association, strong demand is likely to continue until the new crop arrives in October. As arrivals in local markets dwindle and private stocks shrink, CCI remains the primary supplier.
Initially, CCI had reduced its selling price to attract buyers. However, with demand strengthening, it gradually raised prices. Currently, cotton is trading at ₹57,000 per candy (356 kg), up from ₹55,000–55,500 per candy earlier. Both spinning mills and traders are actively purchasing, keeping the cotton market firm.
