Mumbai. To boost sales of the large stock of cotton purchased from farmers at the minimum support price, the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has again cut the export price of cotton. This time, the reduction ranges from ₹700 to ₹1,100 per candy (356 kg).

Government cotton procurement from farmers at the MSP has reached 9.89 million bales (each bale weighing 170 kg), while procurement is still ongoing in some states like Maharashtra and Karnataka. As a result, the total government procurement is expected to exceed 10 million bales.

This is the second time in the last two weeks that the corporation has had to reduce the selling price of cotton. Previously, on February 10, 2026, cotton prices were reduced by ₹1,400-₹1,700 per candy. In fact, due to softening of market prices, the interest of millers and traders in purchasing cotton from CCI has decreased, hence the Corporation is forced to reduce the prices to maintain the pace with the market prices.

According to trade analysts, cotton is available at a relatively cheaper price in the open market, due to which there is better business in it. Although the arrival of cotton is negligible in states like Karnataka, but in some parts of Telangana, states like Maharashtra and Gujarat, its normal supply continues and there is good buying and selling of it.
