CCI sells over half of cotton procured in current season
★ The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has sold 56.34 lakh bales of cotton so far out of the record 100 lakh bales (1 bale = 170 kg) it procured this season.
★ According to sources, CCI still holds around 43 lakh bales of current season’s cotton, while most of the stock from the previous season has already been sold.
★ India’s cotton production for this season is estimated to decline from 327 lakh bales to 301 lakh bales. Despite lower production, domestic cotton prices remain sluggish. Weak consumer demand and price disparities have reduced interest in purchasing domestic cotton.
