Chickpea Prices in Australia Remain Stable Amidst Low Producer Sales

Brisbane. Chickpea prices in Australian markets are currently observed to be stable or showing a slight upward trend. Prices are reported to vary based on factors such as size, variety, and location.
Similarly, limited price fluctuations are being observed for Kabuli chickpeas in other producing and exporting nations, including Canada, the United States, India, Mexico, and Argentina.
Although Australian processors and exporters state that they possess sufficient stocks of chickpeas—which were procured in advance—to fulfill immediate export contracts, and therefore feel no urgency to acquire fresh supplies, producers, too, are showing no haste or eagerness to sell their chickpeas at current price levels, as the prevailing rates are neither particularly attractive nor profitable for them.
Given the high levels of carryover stocks in Canada, Australia, and the United States, the acreage dedicated to sowing chickpeas (including Kabuli varieties) may witness a slight decline. Significant price volatility is considered highly unlikely over the next few weeks.
