Cotton Procurement in Madhya Pradesh
★ The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has procured 19.35 lakh quintals of cotton in Madhya Pradesh at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) so far.
★ This procurement began in  October 2024 across 21 purchasing centers in the state.
★ Last year, during the same period, only 6.35 lakh quintals were procured. Due to lower market prices this year, procurement has seen a significant increase.
★ In Khargone's spot market, daily arrivals of 9,000-10,000 quintals of cotton are providing ample raw material for ginning units.
★ The Cotton Association of India (CAI) has revised the 2024-25 cotton production estimate, reducing it by 6.45 lakh bales to 295.30 lakh bales, while Madhya Pradesh's production estimate remains stable at 19 lakh bales.
