Cotton Sowing Declines to 92.83 Lakh Hectares – Agriculture Ministry
★ During the Kharif 2025 season, cotton sowing in India has seen a decline compared to last year.
★ According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of July 11, 2025, cotton has been sown over 92.83 lakh hectares across the country, down from 95.22 lakh hectares during the same period last year — a decrease of 2.39 lakh hectares.
★ The normal area for cotton cultivation is 129.50 lakh hectares.
★ Experts attribute the slower sowing pace to delayed monsoon in some key producing regions and uncertainty over market prices.
